Selected PortfolioTeak Furniture Centrehttp://teakfurniturecentre.caWinnipeg's Teak Furniture Centre contracted us to create a website to promote their business, show off their (very nice) furniture and make it easy for their customers to find them. We use an embedded Google Map with a customized pointer using the company's logo to show customers on an interactive map where their store is located. This site uses the jQuery library's JSON retrieval method to dynamically add images to the front page image fader box, and then Torsten Baldes' innerfade plugin to provide the nice image fading effect on the main page (see more about this great resource at http://medienfreunde.com/lab/innerfade/). Kelekis Restauranthttp://kelekisrestaurant.comThe World-Famous Kelekis Restaurant has entered the 21st century with this new website! Chris's grandmother was one of the Kelekis sisters, so he decided to put together this website for the restaurant. Chris also designed and produced the dine-in menus, take-out menus, and has done lots of other printed design work for the restaurant. Contemporary Opera Lab - U of M Faculty of Musichttp://music.umanitoba.ca/colChris works for the Marcel A. Desautels Faculty of Music at the University of Manitoba, and as part of his duties there created this site for their Summer Program's Contemporary Opera Laboratory. Although Nexventures wasn't contracted to do this work, Chris is very proud of this site and feels it's a great example of what can be done with some very basic CSS, a little jQuery javascript programming, and very simple PHP (basically just for including menus etc.). This site also uses jQuery to easily handle the dynamic faculty biographies page, and the JSON retrieval method and innerfade plugin (see the Teak Furniture blurb for more about this plugin) to provide the fading image effect on the home page. Phi Delta Theta - Manitoba Alpha Chapterhttp://manitobaphi.caChris is currently working on this website for his Fraternity's Alumni Association. It's using the Blueprint CSS framework for layout and some text styling, and the Zend Framework for the back-end PHP. We're developing this site in parallel with the Alpha Gamma Delta site below. In order to meet the needs of two groups who want a different visual identity but essentially the same features (such as a calendar, member list, news and announcements section etc.), Chris will be building a common framework for these type of organizations and using a skin-based method to handle the appearance. Alpha Gamma Delta - Manitoba Alumnaehttp://agd-mb-alumnae.orgChris is also developing this website (as a favor to his fiancee!) for the Alpha Gamma Delta Manitoba Alumnae group, in parallel to the Phi Delta Theta site described above. |
